Technology Orientation and Tips

Where to go for Technical Help:

Contact the UNL Computer Help Center to get assistance with Blackboard and other computer-related problems:
-Phone (24/7 service): (402) 472-3970 or toll-free (866) 472-3970
-E-mail: mysupport@unl.edu

Visit the Blackboard Resources website to access a growing knowledge base of solutions and tips (located on the "Getting Started With Blackboard" tab).

Is Your Email Correct?

It is important that your email address appears properly within MyRED http://www.unl.edu/about_myred/ . This is because My.UNL uses your official student email address when your professor or peers use Blackboard to send an email. While Blackboard will allow you to change your email address in the "Personal Information" area, it will be overwritten overnight by data from MyRED. For further information, go to: http://www.unl.edu/about_myred/faq/

Do You Have a Compatible Browser?

Most recent versions of Internet Explorer (for Windows users), Safari (for Mac OS users), Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome browsers are compatible with Blackboard. Please check this site for a complete list of supported browsers.

HINT: It is a good idea to have at least two different browsers installed. Many times if something is not working properly in one browser it will function correctly in another browser.

HINT: Using other browsers, non-compatible browsers or disabling browser features, such as JavaScript, cookies and SSL, will reduce site functionality. If your browser has a pop-up blocker, make sure it is either disabled or set to accept pop-ups from unl.edu while accessing your course. Ensure that JavaScript is enabled on your browser and that Java support is enabled.

Allow Pop-ups in your Browser.

Many components of Blackboard require that you turn off your pop-up blockers.
